Official Rules
THE FOLLOWING SWEEPSTAKES IS VALID IN THE 50 UNITED STATES AND D.C. ONLY. VOID ELSEWHERE AND WHERE PROHIBITED. DO NOT ENTER THIS SWEEPSTAKES IF YOU ARE NOT AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD AND A LEGAL RESIDENT OF AND CURRENTLY RESIDING IN THE 50 UNITED STATES OR D.C. THIS SWEEPSTAKES WILL BE CONSTRUED AND EVALUATED ACCORDING TO U.S. LAW.
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING..
1. HOW TO PLAY: Sweepstakes begins January 1, 2009 at 12:00:01 A.M. Central Time ("CT") and ends on December 31, 2010 at 11:59:59 P.M. CT (the "Promotion Period"). To enter the Sweepstakes, visit www.papermate.com and click on the "Write for Hope" sweepstakes icon. Complete the Sweepstakes entry form with all required information and submit, as instructed on-screen, during the Promotion Period. All entries must be received by 11:59:59 P.M. on December 31, 2010. Limit one entry per person and per valid and unique e-mail address per day. If more than one entry is received from the same person or from the same e-mail address on any given day during the Promotion Period, all entries from said person or e-mail address will be disqualified for that particular day. Entries become the property of Sanford, L.P. ("Sponsor") and will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor reserves the right to void all entries made through any robotic, automatic, mechanical, programmed or similar entry duplication method and to disqualify any individual using such a method. In the event of dispute, entries will be deemed made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry, provided such person meets all eligibility requirements set forth in these Official Rules. The "authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Any entries not in conformance with these Official Rules will be disqualified.
2. PRIZES/APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES: Twenty-six (26) Prizes will be awarded during the Promotion Period (one prize for each month of the Promotion Period, except for the month of October of each calendar year in which month two prizes will be awarded in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Each prize shall consist of a Five Hundred U.S. Dollar ($500.00) donation which will be made to City of Hope Cancer Center in honor of winner. The prize will NOT be awarded to winners personally and winner shall NOT be entitled to receive an income tax deduction for such prize contribution. Prizes are non-transferable. No prize substitutions or cash redemptions are permitted. Limit one prize per household. Total Approximate Retail Value of all prizes: $13,000.00.
3. ELIGIBILITY: Sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and D.C. who are 18 years of age or older. Employees of Sponsor, and City of Hope Cancer Center, their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies and members of the immediate families or households of any of the above are not eligible to enter. Federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
4. DRAWING: There will be a total of twenty-six (26) random drawings held in this Sweepstakes. Twenty-four (24) of the drawings will take place on or about the last day of each month of the Promotion Period, the remaining two (2) drawings will be held on or about October 15, 2009 and October 15, 2010, in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each drawing will be conducted by an independent judging organization. Entrants need not be present to win. Judges’ decisions are final in all matters relating to this Sweepstakes.
Non-winning entries will automatically roll over into subsequent drawings. Odds of winning in any drawing depend on the number of eligible entries received or rolled over prior to each drawing.
5. PRIZE NOTIFICATION/WINNER VERIFICATION: Winners will be notified by phone and/or e-mail and postal mail. Each winner may be required to execute and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release and, except where prohibited by law, a publicity release within seven (7) days of date printed on prize notification, or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner selected from all eligible entries received, time permitting. If a winner is deemed a minor in his/her state of residence, then the parent/legal guardian of such minor must sign any documents required herein on behalf of the minor. By entering the Sweepstakes and/or accepting a prize, entrants grant the use of their name, likeness, photograph, voice and approved quote to Sponsor and City of Hope Cancer Center for advertising and/or publicity purposes worldwide, without limitation.
If any prize notification letter or prize is returned as undeliverable or appropriate affidavits and releases are not received within the prescribed period, the corresponding prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. All prizes claimed will be awarded.
6. RELEASE: By entering, entrants acknowledge compliance with these official rules, including all eligibility requirements and agree to release Sponsor, City of Hope Cancer Center and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, advertising and promotion agencies, and all of their respective employees, directors, officers, shareholders, agents, successors or assigns (collectively "Releasees"), from any claims, losses, actions, or damages, whether actual, incidental or consequential, arising out of or relating to entrants’ participation in this Sweepstakes, or the acceptance, possession or use/misuse of any prize, or participation in prize-related activities. Releasees are not responsible for: (i) electronic transmissions/entries that are lost, late, stolen, incomplete, illegible, damaged, garbled, destroyed, misdirected, or not received by the Sponsor or its agents for any reason, (ii) any problems or technical malfunctions, errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, delays in operation or transmission, communication failures or human error that may occur in the transmission, receipt or processing of entries, or for destruction of or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, (iii) failed or unavailable hardware, network, software or telephone, cable or satellite transmissions, damage to entrants’ or any person’s computer and/or its contents, or causes beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control that jeopardize the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes or (iv) any entries submitted in a manner that is not expressly allowed under these rules. All incomplete or non-conforming entries will be disqualified. Sponsor is further not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by Internet users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes or by any technical or human error which may occur in the transmission, receipt or processing of the entries. If for any reason this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, or if this Sweepstakes or any Web site associated therewith (or any portion thereof) becomes corrupted or does not allow the proper playing of the Sweepstakes and processing of entries per these rules, or if infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by entrants, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes, in Sponsor’s sole opinion, corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual implicated in such action, and/or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Sweepstakes. In the event this Sweepstakes is cancelled, Sponsor reserves the right to conduct a random drawing to award the prizes from among all eligible, non-suspect, entries received prior to the time of the action or event warranting such cancellation.
7. CAUTION. ANY ATTEMPT BY ANY PERSON TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS SWEEPSTAKES MAY BE A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY ANY SUCH PERSON AND SEEK DAMAGES FROM HIM/HER TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
8. For the names of the winners, mail a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Paper Mate - "Write for Hope" Sweepstakes Winner Request, c/o PSM&M, P.O. Box 63742, Philadelphia, PA 19147 to be received no later than 1/31/11.
